Kepler-508 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-508 is a star 1060 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is 3.55 billion years old and has a mass of 1.16 solar masses, a radius of 1.25 solar radii, and a temperature of 6030 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-508 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-508 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate of 1.64 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 25.3 days.
