Kepler-507 and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-507 is a star located 1,280 light-years away, and one known planet orbits it. The host star is 3.8 billion years old and has a mass of 1.16 solar masses, a radius of 1.32 solar radii, and a temperature of 6110 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-507 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-507 b completes an orbit every 3.57 days and has a radius of 1.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it within the Earth-like size class, which stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
