Kepler-490 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-490 is a star 4970 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 3.47 billion years old, has a mass of 1.08 solar masses, a radius of 1.12 solar radii, and a temperature of 6050 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-490 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-490 b is Jupiter-like, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 3.27 days and a radius of 11.7 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
