Kepler-471 and Its Planet

Kepler-471 is a star 4080 light-years away with one known planet. Transit observations in 2016 revealed this planet, Kepler-471 b, which orbits its star every 5.01 days. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-471 b has a radius of 15 Earth radii and is Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is larger than Earth's.

The host star is 1.58 billion years old. It has a mass of 1.49 solar masses and a radius of 1.8 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 6730 K is hotter than the Sun's.
