Kepler-428 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-428 is a K-type main-sequence dwarf located 2240 light-years away. The star is 5 billion years old, has a mass of 0.87 solar masses, a radius of 0.8 solar radii, and a temperature of 5150 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

Kepler-428 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2014. It completes an orbit in 3.53 days, has a mass of 404 Earth masses, and a radius of 12.1 Earth radii. Its radius and mass are both larger than Earth's, and its mass is roughly 1.27 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 1.25 g/cm³, 0.227 times Earth's.
