Kepler-397 and Its Two Planets

Kepler-397 is a star with two known planets, both discovered by transit in 2014. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewing angle, dimming the star's light. The host star's reported mass estimate is 0.79 solar masses and its radius estimate is 0.76 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5230 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 5.25 billion years.

Kepler-397 b is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.46 Earth radii and an orbital period of 22.3 days. Among these planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius. Kepler-397 c is Jupiter-like, with a radius of 6.18 Earth radii and an orbital period of 135 days. Among the planets, it has the longest year and the largest radius, and its radius is larger than Earth's.
