Kepler-39 and Its Giant Planet

Kepler-39 is an F7 V star located 3450 light-years away. This host has one known planet. The star's spectral type indicates a main-sequence dwarf somewhat hotter than the Sun, with a reported temperature of 6350 K. Its mass is 1.29 solar masses and its radius is 1.4 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values. The star's age is 2.1 billion years.

The single planet orbiting Kepler-39 is Kepler-39 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2011 by the transit method. It completes one orbit every 21.1 days. Its radius is 13.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 6390 Earth masses, roughly 20.1 times Jupiter's mass. The planet's mean density is 13.1 g/cm³, which is 2.38 times Earth's.
