Kepler-359 and Its Three Worlds

Kepler-359 is a star located 4710 light-years away, and it hosts three planets. The star itself is estimated to be 3.02 billion years old, with a mass of 1.14 solar masses and a radius of 1.19 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 6090 K. Its mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's as well.

All three planets were discovered by the transit method and announced in 2014. In a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-359 b is Neptune-like, with a radius of 3.53 Earth radii and an orbital period of 25.6 days. Kepler-359 c and Kepler-359 d are both Jupiter-like. Kepler-359 c has a radius of 4.3 Earth radii and orbits every 57.7 days, while Kepler-359 d has a radius of 4.01 Earth radii and a year of 77.1 days. Each planet's radius is larger than Earth's.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-359 b has the shortest year by reported estimates and the smallest radius, while Kepler-359 d has the longest year and the second-smallest radius. Kepler-359 c has the second-shortest year and the largest radius.
