Kepler-326: A Distant Star With Three Small Worlds

Kepler-326 is a star located 1590 light-years away, and three planets orbit it. The star is 4.68 billion years old and has a mass of 0.85 solar masses, a radius of 0.8 solar radii, and a temperature of 5150 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are each smaller or cooler than the Sun's.

All three planets were discovered by transit in 2014. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-326 b is classified as a Super-Earth, with a radius of 1.52 Earth radii and an orbital period of 2.25 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the largest radius.

Kepler-326 c is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.4 Earth radii and an orbital period of 4.58 days. Among the listed planets, it has the second-shortest year and the second-smallest radius.

Kepler-326 d is also classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.21 Earth radii and an orbital period of 6.77 days. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the smallest radius.

Each planet's radius is larger than Earth's.
