Kepler-317 and Its Two Planets

Kepler-317 is a star 3070 light-years away with two known planets. The host star has a mass of 1.04 solar masses, a radius of 1.05 solar radii, and a temperature of 5810 K. Its age is 3.72 billion years.

Both planets were discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Both are classified as Super-Earths, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.

Kepler-317 b has a radius of 2.09 Earth radii and an orbital period of 5.52 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the largest radius. Kepler-317 c has a radius of 1.72 Earth radii and an orbital period of 8.78 days. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the smallest radius.
