Kepler-292 and Its Five Planets

Kepler-292 is a star located 3450 light-years away, and five planets orbit it. The star itself is estimated to be 5.13 billion years old. Its reported mass estimate is 0.85 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's. Its reported radius estimate is 0.81 solar radii, also smaller than the Sun's. With a reported temperature of 5280 K, it is cooler than the Sun.

All five planets were discovered by the transit method in 2014. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-292 b is an Earth-like planet with a radius of 1.32 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 2.58 days. Kepler-292 c is also Earth-like, with a radius of 1.47 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 3.72 days. Kepler-292 d is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.23 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 7.06 days.

Kepler-292 e is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 2.67 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 12 days. Kepler-292 f is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.35 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 20.8 days.

The two Earth-like planets each complete an orbit in under four days. Among the five planets, the two Super-Earths and the Neptune-like planet have the longer orbital periods.
