Kepler-237 and Its Two Planets

Kepler-237 is a star located 2150 light-years away. It has 4.27 billion years of age, 0.81 solar masses, 0.76 solar radii, and a temperature of 4950 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

Kepler-237 b and Kepler-237 c were both discovered by transit in 2014, when each planet passed in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-237 b is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.41 Earth radii and an orbital period of 4.72 days. Kepler-237 c is classified as a Super-Earth, with a radius of 2.08 Earth radii and an orbital period of 8.1 days.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-237 b has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates, while Kepler-237 c has the longest year and the largest radius. Size classes compare radius with Earth's: an Earth-like planet stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius, while a Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times.
