Kepler-214 and Its Two Known Planets

Kepler-214 is a star 3940 light-years away with two known planets. The host star is 1.58 billion years old, with a mass of 1.11 solar masses and a radius of 1.07 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 6030 K.

Both planets were discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-214 b is Neptune-like and orbits every 15.7 days at a radius of 2.61 Earth radii. Kepler-214 c is a Super-Earth with an orbital period of 28.8 days and a radius of 2.13 Earth radii.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-214 b has the shortest year and the largest radius, while Kepler-214 c has the longest year and the smallest radius. Both planets are larger in radius than Earth, and the star is more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun.
