Kepler-207: A Distant Star With Three Known Worlds

Kepler-207 is a star located 2860 light-years away, and it is known to host three planets. The star itself is estimated to be 4.17 billion years old, with a mass of 1.2 solar masses and a radius of 1.49 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5990 K. These stellar measurements indicate that Kepler-207 is more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun.

All three planets orbiting Kepler-207 were discovered by the transit method and announced in 2014. In a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-207 b is classified as a Super-Earth. It completes an orbit in 1.61 days and has a radius of 1.57 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth. Among the listed planets, Kepler-207 b has the shortest year and the second-smallest radius.

Kepler-207 c is also a Super-Earth. Its orbital period is 3.07 days, and its radius is 1.5 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, Kepler-207 c has the second-shortest year and the smallest radius.

Kepler-207 d is classified as Neptune-like. It orbits its star every 5.87 days and has a radius of 3.31 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, Kepler-207 d has the longest year and the largest radius.
