Kepler-1983 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1983 is a star located 1380 light-years away. The star has a mass of 0.797 solar masses and a radius of 0.853 solar radii, and its temperature is 5120 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet has been identified orbiting this host.

That planet is Kepler-1983 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2023. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1983 b completes an orbit in 7.33 days, and its radius is 2.33 Earth radii, a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's. The Super-Earth classification places it within 2.5 times Earth's radius.
