Kepler-1949 b: A Super-Earth in Transit

Kepler-1949 is a star located 8540 light-years away, and one planet has been found orbiting it. The host star has a reported mass of 1.08 solar masses, a radius of 2.15 solar radii, and a temperature of 5930 K. Its mass and radius are both larger than the Sun's.

The system's single known planet is Kepler-1949 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1949 b completes an orbit in 2.21 days, and its radius of 2.22 Earth radii is larger than Earth's.
