Kepler-1947 b: An Earth-Sized World in a Distant System

Kepler-1947 is a star located 1530 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a reported mass of 1.1 solar masses and a reported radius estimate of 1.05 solar radii, which is larger than the Sun's. Its reported temperature of 5990 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1947 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2021, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips helped establish its orbital period of 6.96 days. With a radius of 1.01 Earth radii, Kepler-1947 b is classified as Earth-like, a size class that stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
