Kepler-1901: A Distant Star and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-1901 is a single known star system located 3350 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host star has a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 0.975 solar radii, and a temperature of 6020 K. Its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet is Kepler-1901 b, an Earth-like world discovered by the transit method in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1901 b completes an orbit every 3.48 days and has a radius of 1.47 Earth radii. That radius is larger than Earth's. Its size class places it within 1.5 times Earth's radius, making it Earth-like.
