Kepler-1879 b: A Super-Earth in Transit

Kepler-1879 is a star located 2050 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 1.51 solar radii, and a temperature of 5850 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's.

The planet is Kepler-1879 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1879 b completes an orbit every 10.6 days, and its radius is 2.07 Earth radii. That reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
