Kepler-1871 b: A Super-Earth

Kepler-1871 is a star located 2790 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is less massive than the Sun at 0.92 solar masses, but it is larger than the Sun at 1.18 solar radii. Its temperature of 5320 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1871 b, is a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is 2.42 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. It completes each orbit in 1.95 days, a period established through transit observations, in which the planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness.

Kepler-1871 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method. Its radius of 2.42 Earth radii is larger than Earth's.
