Kepler-1865 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

Kepler-1865 is a star located 3010 light-years away. Its reported mass estimate is 0.849 solar masses, which is smaller than the Sun's, and its radius is 0.871 solar radii. The star's reported temperature of 5420 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, Kepler-1865 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its reported radius estimate is 1.58 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. The planet completes an orbit every 2.52 days.
