Kepler-1857 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1857 is a single-star system 2780 light-years away, and its only known planet orbits the star every 8.94 days. The host star is 7.94 billion years old, with a mass of 0.955 solar masses and a radius of 1.17 solar radii. That mass is smaller than the Sun's, while the radius is larger, and the star's temperature of 5930 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The system's lone planet, Kepler-1857 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet's radius is 1.96 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 8.94 days.
