Kepler-1821 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-1821 is a single-star system located 2610 light-years away. Its host star has a reported mass estimate of 0.97 solar masses, a reported radius estimate of 0.947 solar radii, and a reported temperature of 5520 K. Each of these reported values is smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding value. The system's only listed planet is Kepler-1821 b.

Kepler-1821 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Such a planet is classified as Neptune-like, a size class that extends to 4 times Earth's radius. Kepler-1821 b has a radius of 2.59 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 16.5 days.
