Kepler-1818 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

Kepler-1818 is a star 3370 light-years away with a mass of 1.02 solar masses and a radius of 1.13 solar radii. Its reported temperature of 6050 K is hotter than the Sun's, and it hosts one known planet.

That planet is Kepler-1818 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1818 b completes an orbit every 4.64 days and has a radius of 1.71 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. As a Super-Earth, it falls within a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
