Kepler-1815 b: A Neptune-like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1815 is a star located 3280 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.856 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's, and its radius is 0.967 solar radii. Its reported temperature of 5520 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1815 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, which occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1815 b completes an orbit every 12.2 days. Its reported radius estimate is 2.75 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. This places it within the Neptune-like size class, which compares radius with Earth's and reaches up to 4 times Earth's radius.
