Kepler-1797 b: A Neptune-like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1797 is a star located 4370 light-years away, with a mass of 1.02 solar masses, a radius of 1.1 solar radii, and a temperature of 5710 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's, and it hosts one known planet.

That planet, Kepler-1797 b, is a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2021, when it was observed passing in front of its star and causing a small dip in brightness. It completes one orbit every 23.4 days. Its radius is 3.06 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth; within the size classes, Neptune-like planets have radii between 2.5 and 4 times Earth's radius. This size classification reflects the planet's radius alone rather than its composition.
