Kepler-1778 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1778 is a star located 4160 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a mass of 1.21 solar masses, a radius of 1.14 solar radii, and a temperature of 6340 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1778 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. This planet has an orbital period of 10.1 days, completing one orbit in that time. Its radius is 3.02 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That size places it in the Neptune-like class, since Neptune-like planets have radii up to 4 times Earth's.
