Kepler-1772 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1772 is a single-star system located 2840 light-years away. The host star is 7.94 billion years old and contains 1.09 solar masses of material, with a radius of 1.79 solar radii and a temperature of 5620 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler.

One planet is known to orbit this star. Kepler-1772 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. The planet completes one orbit every 3.22 days. With a radius of 2.69 Earth radii, it is classified as Neptune-like, a size class reaching up to four times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
