Kepler-1768 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1768 is a star located 2060 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a mass of 1.2 solar masses, a radius of 1.56 solar radii, and a temperature of 6050 K, making its reported radius estimate larger than the Sun's and its reported temperature hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1768 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1768 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate is 2.23 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 15.1 days.
