Planets Around Kepler-176

Kepler-176 is a star located 1720 light-years away. It is 4.68 billion years old, with a mass of 0.87 solar masses and a radius of 0.83 solar radii. Its temperature is 5300 K, which is cooler than the Sun's. The star's reported mass estimate and radius estimate are both smaller than the Sun's. Four planets are known to orbit this host.

All four planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-176 b was discovered in 2014. It is an Earth-like planet with a radius of 1.43 Earth radii and an orbital period of 5.43 days, giving it the shortest year among the listed planets. Kepler-176 c was also discovered in 2014 and is Neptune-like, with a radius of 2.6 Earth radii and an orbital period of 12.8 days, the second-shortest year among the listed planets. Its radius is the largest among them and is larger than Earth's.

Kepler-176 d, another 2014 discovery, is Neptune-like with a radius of 2.51 Earth radii and an orbital period of 25.8 days, the second-longest year among the listed planets. Its radius is larger than Earth's and is the second-largest among the listed planets. Kepler-176 e was discovered in 2016. It is Earth-like, with a radius of 1.45 Earth radii and an orbital period of 51.2 days, the longest year among the listed planets. Its radius is the second-smallest among the listed planets and is larger than Earth's.
