Kepler-1757 b: A Neptune-Like World Around a Small Cool Star

Kepler-1757 is a star located 2,630 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.817 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's, and its radius estimate is 0.741 solar radii, also smaller than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 5,280 K, cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1757 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, which occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, with repeated dips helping establish orbital periods. Kepler-1757 b is Neptune-like, a size class for planets reaching 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius estimate is 2.95 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 19.7 days.
