Kepler-170 is a star located 2410 light-years away, and two planets have been found orbiting it. The host star is 3.63 billion years old, holds 1.03 solar masses, measures 1 solar radius, and has a temperature of 5600 K, which is cooler than the Sun's.
Both planets were discovered by transit in 2014, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-170 b is a Neptune-like planet with an orbital period of 7.93 days and a radius of 3.2 Earth radii. Kepler-170 c is also Neptune-like, with an orbital period of 16.7 days and a radius of 2.86 Earth radii. Both radii are larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets Kepler-170 b has both the shortest year and the largest radius, while Kepler-170 c has the longest year and the smallest radius.
