Kepler-1684 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1684 is a star located 2030 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a mass of 0.75 solar masses and a radius of 0.667 solar radii, and its temperature is 4710 K. Each of these reported measurements is smaller or cooler than the corresponding value for the Sun.

The planet Kepler-1684 b was discovered by the transit method and announced in 2020. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1684 b orbits its star every 47.7 days, and its radius is 2.87 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it within the Neptune-like size class, which extends to four times Earth's radius.
