Kepler-1682 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1682 is a star located 3780 light-years away, and it hosts exactly one known planet. The star has a reported mass estimate of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 0.842 solar radii, and a temperature of 5620 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's.

The system's only planet is Kepler-1682 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1682 b completes an orbit every 14.8 days and has a radius of 2.89 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. With a radius between 2.5 and 4 times Earth's, it falls within the Neptune-like size class, a grouping based on radius rather than composition.
