Kepler-1663 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1663 is a star located 1100 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.51 solar masses, a radius of 0.49 solar radii, and a temperature of 3740 K, all of which are smaller or cooler than the corresponding values for the Sun. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, Kepler-1663 b, is classified as Neptune-like. It was discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1663 b completes an orbit every 17.6 days. Its radius is 3.3 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's radius.
