Kepler-1638 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1638 is a single-star system 4980 light-years away. Its star is 5.7 billion years old and has a mass of 0.817 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's. The star's radius is 0.835 solar radii, and its temperature is 5910 K. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1638 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit is a planet's passage in front of its star from our viewpoint, producing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1638 b's radius is 1.87 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 259 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit.
