Kepler-1614 and Its Lone Planet

Kepler-1614 is a single-star system 3890 light-years away. The host star is 5.5 billion years old and has a mass of 0.79 solar masses, a radius of 0.76 solar radii, and a temperature of 5120 K. Its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is Kepler-1614 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1614 b completes one orbit every 3.95 days, and its radius of 1.49 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, placing it within the Earth-like size class, which stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
