Kepler-1609 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1609 is a star located 5960 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 3.02 billion years old, with a mass of 1.18 solar masses and a radius of 1.27 solar radii. Its temperature is 6130 K, which is hotter than the Sun's, and both its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1609 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1609 b has an orbital period of 114 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit. Its radius is 2.22 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Super-Earth size class, which reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
