Kepler-1584 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1584 is a star 4620 light-years away with one known planet. The host is 3.31 billion years old and has a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.13 solar radii, and a temperature of 6070 K, making it more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-1584 b is a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, discovered by transit in 2016. It completes an orbit every 13.4 days and has a radius of 1.61 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its size classification describes radius, not composition.
