Kepler-1562 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1562 is a star 6720 light-years away with a single known planet in its system. The host star is 4.79 billion years old and has a mass of 1.02 solar masses, a radius of 1.05 solar radii, and a temperature of 5760 K. A solar mass and a solar radius compare stellar mass and radius with the Sun.

The one planet orbiting this star is Kepler-1562 b, a Neptune-like planet discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1562 b completes an orbit every 64.3 days and has a radius of 3.55 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius. In size class terms, a Neptune-like planet reaches 4 times Earth's radius, though that classification describes radius rather than composition.
