Kepler-1533 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1533 is a star 3150 light-years away with one known planet. The host is 2.19 billion years old, with a mass of 1.31 solar masses and a radius of 1.51 solar radii. Its reported temperature of 6430 K is hotter than the Sun's, and its mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-1533 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1533 b orbits every 309 days. Its radius of 3.46 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and as a Neptune-like planet it falls within the size class reaching four times Earth's radius.
