Kepler-1517 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-1517 is a star 2760 light-years away. It is 1.38 billion years old, with a mass of 1.58 solar masses, a radius of 1.95 solar radii, and a temperature of 7010 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is Kepler-1517 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1517 b completes an orbit every 5.55 days. Its radius is 9.76 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. A Jupiter-like classification reflects a radius exceeding four times Earth's, not the planet's composition.
