Kepler-1507 b: A Sub-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1507 is a star located 1050 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.57 billion years old, with a mass of 0.89 solar masses and a radius of 0.85 solar radii. Its temperature is 5410 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1507 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1507 b completes an orbit every 16.1 days and has a radius of 0.84 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than Earth's, and it is classified as a Sub-Earth, a size class for planets smaller than Earth.
