Kepler-1506 b: A Close Earth-Sized World

Kepler-1506 is a star 7720 light-years away with a single known planet, Kepler-1506 b. The host star has a mass of 0.95 solar masses, a radius of 0.93 solar radii, and a temperature of 5680 K. Its age is 3.98 billion years.

Kepler-1506 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. The planet is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.32 Earth radii; its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. This places it within the Earth-like size class, which includes planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius. It completes one orbit every 14 days.
