Kepler-148 and Its Three Worlds

Kepler-148 is a star located 2580 light-years away. It is 4.68 billion years old, with a mass of 0.86 solar masses, a radius of 0.81 solar radii, and a temperature of 5170 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, as is its reported radius estimate, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Three planets are known to orbit Kepler-148, all discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-148 b, found in 2014, is classified as a Super-Earth. It completes one orbit every 1.73 days and has a radius of 1.8 Earth radii.

Kepler-148 c, also found in 2014, is Neptune-like. Its orbital period is 4.18 days, and its radius is 3.6 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.

Kepler-148 d, discovered in 2016, is Jupiter-like. It orbits every 51.8 days and has a radius of 8.68 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-148 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, at 1.73 days, and the smallest radius, at 1.8 Earth radii. Kepler-148 c has the second-shortest year, at 4.18 days, and the second-smallest radius, at 3.6 Earth radii. Kepler-148 d has the longest year, at 51.8 days, and the largest radius, at 8.68 Earth radii.
