Kepler-1479 b: A Super-Earth in a One-Planet System

Kepler-1479 is a star located 2380 light-years away. It has 0.99 solar masses, 0.98 solar radii, and a temperature of 5800 K, and it is 4.27 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1479 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2016 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1479 b completes an orbit every 14.5 days and has a radius of 1.83 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its radius places it within the Super-Earth size class, which reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
