Kepler-1456 b: A Close-In World Around a Cool Dwarf

Kepler-1456 is a star located 1210 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is cooler than the Sun, with a temperature of 4230 K, and its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's at 0.64 solar masses. Its reported radius estimate is also smaller than the Sun's, at 0.62 solar radii, and it is 3.72 billion years old.

The planet Kepler-1456 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method. Transits occur when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1456 b completes an orbit, or year, every 18.1 days. It has a radius of 1.14 Earth radii, placing it within the Earth-like size class, which spans planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
