Kepler-1420 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1420 is a star located 3440 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.82 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's, and its radius estimate is 0.79 solar radii, also smaller than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 5190 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 4.9 billion years.

The planet Kepler-1420 b is classified as Earth-like and was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1420 b has an orbital period of 6.7 days - the time it takes to complete one orbit. Its radius is 1.28 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. In this size class, an Earth-like planet stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius, so Kepler-1420 b qualifies by radius alone.
