Kepler-14 and Its Giant Planet

Kepler-14 is a star with one known planet, Kepler-14 b. The host star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, at 1.51 solar masses, and its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, at 2.05 solar radii. Its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's, at 6400 K, and it is 2.2 billion years old.

Kepler-14 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2011. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-14 b orbits in 6.79 days. Its reported radius estimate is 12.7 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is 2670 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 8.4 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 7.13 g/cm³, 1.29 times Earth's.
