Kepler-1377 and Its Single Known Planet

Kepler-1377 is a star 3740 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 5.01 billion years old and has a mass of 0.86 solar masses, a radius of 0.82 solar radii, and a temperature of 5220 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The one planet orbiting this star is Kepler-1377 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2016. It completes an orbit in 0.741 days, and its radius of 1.25 Earth radii is larger than Earth's.

In a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1377 b's size classification reflects its radius, which remains within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
